What is A World Without End?
A World Without End is a series of eleven paintings JohnDavid Whalen made in Lisbon through the summer and autumn of 2024. Each one carries the accumulated memory of every commission before it, and the works are held together as one body made to be exhibited.
The series
| Works | Eleven paintings |
| Made | Lisbon, summer and autumn 2024 |
| Size | 155 by 155 centimetres each |
| Material | Water-based paint on the reverse side of the canvas |
| Status | Not for sale as single pieces. Held together for exhibition. |
The idea
Read together, the eleven works form one continuous thought: creation has no end, only continuation. The algorithm deepens with each painting and the canvas receives it.
